The Best Word: Editing Service

Ghost Writing

Writing is an art form that involves many hours of sitting in front of a computer with notebooks and reference books at hand. The good writer does this every day. He is compelled to do it. For him, a day is wasted if he has not produced his word quota. And when he has written it, he goes through it again, and again, to make sure that every word is the right word, and that they are all in the right places. This sort of dedication is not for everyone. We have families to take care of and we have jobs to maintain, and so writing must take a back seat.
But, how often have you had something you burned to say, and could not find the words that would make it sing? The book that would help you sell yourself to your customers, knocking at the back of your mind, but never had the time to sit down and plan how to write it? Something that happened in your life that needs to be told, but keeping your life together from one day to the next has left you with no time to assemble the information and sort out the words? Perhaps it is the story of your life, or a family history you wish to record. We at The Best Word will carefully pull all the threads together to make the book you want.

Editing

A well edited manuscript is a far more valuable property than one which has not been edited. Margaret Mitchell's Gone With the Wind might never have been published had it not been for the editor who helped put her piles of manuscript together into a readable format.

It is extremely difficult for an inexperienced writer to go through his own work and say, 'This should be deleted' or, 'That needs to be emphasized,' because he is in the midst of his story elements and knows precisely the feeling he wants to evoke. But for the reader who only sees the end result, the impression is often quite different.

As the author of a book, you have put months, sometimes years, into your manuscript and believe you have gone through it so many times there could not possibly be any problems with it. However, even a simple line edit to weed out errors in grammar and punctuation can turn up some nasty surprises. It is better to take care of them before the book goes to print than to wait till after, and realize certain changes should have been made.
